November 25, 2008--The Editor in Chief of the American Psychological Association's Psychological Assessment Journal has asked Center for Forensic Studies Professor Dr. Kyle Boone to serve on its Board of Consulting Editors in 2009. This widely subscribed journal has a strong influence on research and practice in the field of psychology. Dr. Boone is based at our Los Angeles campus.

October 7, 2008--CFS Director Dr. Eric Hickey joins the advisory board of Global Institute of Traumatology, whose mission is to provide effective crisis management for significant trauma episodes in areas of planning, response, intervention and recovery to help promote public safety, restore public order and stabilize members of the impacted community.

September 14, 2008--(San Diego, CA) Breaking News from the 13th International IVAT (Institute of Violence Abuse and Trauma) Conference. CFS Director Eric Hickey, PhD is IVAT Board Chair.

August 27, 2008--Congratulations to CFS faculty member Kyle Boone, Ph.D., ABPP (ABCN), who has been named Fellow, Division 40 of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Boone is widely published in peer-reviewed journals, is author of several books, and spent 22 years as faculty at the UCLA School of Medicine. Dr. Boone is based at our Los Angeles campus.

July 21, 2008--CFS is pleased to announce our second Distinguished Speakers Series event featuring Dr. Thomas Grisso, Professor of Psychiatry, Director of Psychology, and Director of the Law-Psychiatry Program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Grisso will present at our Fresno campus November 6 and at our Los Angeles campus on November 7, 2008. CFS Fresno Program Director Bill Holcomb, PhD comments, "Thomas Grisso is probably the most well known and well respected living forensic psychologist and his work has influenced major legislation and the law, including major Supreme Court decisions and the recent revision of juvenile competency law in California." The event is free and open to current and prospective CFS students and Alliant faculty, students, and staff.

July 3, 2008--Join us! The Institute of Violence Abuse and Trauma is hosting its 13th annual international conference September 12-17th in San Diego at the Town and Country Resort and Convention Center.

June 27, 2008- Incoming Fresno student Staff Sergeant William D. Kammerer is named 2008 Airman of the Year by the California National Guard. Staff Sergeant Kammerer is a satellite, wideband and telemetry systems journeyman. He volunteered for duty in Iraq and was selected three times for airborne missions--and was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal.

June 6, 2008- Newsweek.com is working with CFS Director Eric Hickey, Ph.D. and CFS students Candace Caro, Jon Kingi, Alvin Lae, Ph.D., Seaira Reedy, M.S., Ryan Solomon, and Rozanna Tross, M.A. on a story about the history of American serial killers. Look for it on Newsweek.com soon.
