Graduate Certificate in School-Based Mental Health
Our two-year, Graduate Certificate in School-Based Mental Health program is designed to provide master's level practitioners with the education, training and exposure to conduct culturally-informed counseling within schools, including brief, short-term, group and individual counseling. Prospective applicants may include school psychologists, school counselors, MFTs and LCSWs.
The philosophy at the foundation of this certifcate program emanates from the National Association of School Psychologists' (NASP) conceptualization of school-based mental health. School-based mental health focuses primarily on:
- Building skills
- Assessing deficits
- Preventing problems
- Nurturing strengths among culturally and ethnically diverse preschoolers, school-age children and adolescents
